Langhorne, PA - Cairn University succumbed to the high-pressure of Fairleigh Dickinson-Florham on Tuesday night.

FDU-Florham brought an intense man-to-man marking scheme that gave the Highlanders fits all night. The constant pressure forced an alarming number of turnovers from Cairn, 32 to be exact. In return, the Highlanders only forced 12 from Florham.
The game did slow down after the break, of which the Devils led 51-12 at halftime. And while the young Highlanders squad continue to find their feet, they did limit FDU-Florham to only 25% shooting in the second half, compared to 60% in the first. Thanks to their improved defense, the second half score was nowhere near what it was in the first, with Florham squeeking out a 19-18 second half tally. The final total was a 70-30 scoreline in favor of the Devils.
Five different players reached double-figures for Florham, with four players notching 10 points and Delisha Thompson leading the way with 11. Thompson also tied with Makryn Thompson with a game-high 8 rebounds.
For the Highlanders,
Amie Eppolito buried 3-of-6 3-pointers to pace Cairn with 11 points, while
Hannah McCardle contribued 10 points to the cause. The return of
Ruth Nelson gave the Highlanders some extra experience down in the paint as the junior center grabbed 7 rebounds and dropped 6 points.
The ladies will have a 7-day holiday break over Thanksgiving before their next contest. Next wednesday, Cairn travels to Penn St.-Abington in a double-header with the men's team. In last season's meeting, Cairn came out 73-64 winners against the Lions.
