Allentown, PA - Abbie Keating had a career night, helping the Highlanders to a 3-0 sweep of Cedar Crest in a vital Colonial States Athletic Conference match.
Box Score
The first set was all Cairn, as the Highlanders easily took the set 25-8. The Falcons responded with a bit more resistance in the second and third sets, but had no answer for Cairn's junior
Abbie Keating. The Highlanders would close things out with a 25-20 second set and 26-24 third set win.
Keating unleashed 19 kills, a career-high, for the evening. All the more impressive when you consider it was only a three match set. The individual team high this season was set by
Rachel Johnson in a 21 kill performance in a five set match against Delaware Valley on September 15. Keating still found time to add two assists and nine digs in between her spikes.
Erin Greenwood finished with 34 assists. When not setting up Keating, Greenwood was likely looking for the ever-consistent
Brigid Shehan who put forth another solid outing with 11 kills and 22 digs.
The win breaks up a three-way tie between Cairn, Marywood, and Cedar Crest. All three teams were previously 5-3 heading into Tuesday. With both Cairn and Marywood winning, they both sit at 6-3. Cairn has the tie-breaker against Marywood, having defeated the Pacers 3-1 back on October 3. Cairn is now in 4th place.
The victory knocks the Highlanders up to 17-10 overall and 6-3 in CSAC.
On Thursday, the Highlanders return to action against Notre Dame (MD). The match is set for 7pm.
