Women's Tennis Bounced On Final Weekend

Langhorne, PA - Cairn's women's tennis team closed out its 2012 season with a duo of matches against conference foes Baptist Bible College and Marywood University this weekend.

On Friday, the Highlanders took to the court against the Defenders of BBC for the second time this season. Back on September 27, the Highlanders defeated Baptist Bible 7-2 in the non-conference matchup. This time, the match would count towards the CSAC standings and that worked in the favor of BBC. A different Defender's team showed up this time around and claimed a 5-4 win. As match as a tennis match can be a "tale of two halves", this match was. Starting off with doubles play, Cairn made it a clean sweep taking an early 3-0 lead. Singles play was dominated by the Defenders though. Only Meghan Whittington earned a singles win for Cairn.

The next day, the Highlanders had a tough task against the Knights of Neumann University. Since joining the Colonial States Athletic Conference in 2008, the Highlanders have failed to claim victory against Neumann and Cairn will have to wait until 2013 for their next chance, as the Knights cruised to a 0-9 win.

Cairn closes out the 2013 season with a 2-12 record overall and 1-9 within conference play.
