Falcons Fly Past Crimson Eagles

Box Score

LANGHORNE, PA - Sometimes things simply don't click and that was the way of it for the Crimson Eagles this Saturday, as the fell to an 8th straight defeat, 43-76 at the hands of Cedar Crest College.

The Crimson Eagles started the game off with the first bucket of the contest. But what immediately followed was a Cedar Crest 11-0 run for the next 4 minutes and 12 seconds that broke open the game. Worse yet for the Crimson Eagles, an 11-0 run would not be the best run for the Falcons in the first half.

PBU would claw their way back to only a 3 point deficit. 10-13, only to see another Falcon run shift momentum back in Cedar Crest's favor. This time, the Falcons knocked 8 unanswered points to take a 10-21 lead. Following three points from the Crimson Eagles, Cedar Crest's women would go on a 15 point tear for the next 6 minutes and 12 seconds, jumping out to a 23 point lead of 13-36. PBU's senior guard Sara Poole (Edison, NJ / Timothy Christian) would put an end to the run at 2:43 with a two-point jumper. The Falcons would go into the break leading 17-42.

Cedar Crest's Lizzy Sunderhaus had 15 first half points, only 4 below her game average. PBU's Brianna Teijaro (Gap, PA / Pequea Valley) led the Crimson Eagles with 5 first half points.

The Crimson Eagles would play a much closer second half, improving their offensive output and defensive stance. Cedar Crest would win the second half 34-26, but nowhere near the 42-17 difference in the first half.

Danielle Bradley-Wilson (Philadelphia, PA / Delaware Valley Charter) would pace the Crimson Eagles with 10 points and 10 rebounds to complete yet another double-double, while Sara Poole finished with 12 points, 8 of those coming in the second half, and 5 assists. The Falcons had two different players reach 20 points. Amber Wehry finished with 20 points only to be out done by her own teammate Lizzy Sunderhaus who led all scorers with 29. Megan DeMutis had 7 assists running the Falcon offense.

Centenary College is up next for the women. The game is in Hackettstown, NJ and tip-off is set for 7pm this Wednesday, January 18.
