Crimson Eagles Topple Misericordia

Box Score

LANGHORNE, PA
- The Ladies of PBU took care of business Tuesday night by defeating Misericordia 3-1.

After falling behind early, losing the first set 23-25, it looked as though the women's woes had followed them from Virginia. But in a spirited and convincing fashion, the Crimson Eagles rattled off three straight sets.

Again, it appeared as though another long night could be in store after the first two sets went to the wire, with PBU winning the second set 26-24. However, the ladies took charge of the match spurred on by the loud and boisterous student section, to handily win the third and fourth sets 25-11 and 25-13 respectively.

For Misericordia, junior hitter Kat LaBrie led the way with 9 kills and senior Krystal Burford adding another 6.

The scoring was more spread out among the Eagles squad with junior Ashley Taylor and freshman Brigid Shehan both notching 9 kills. Senior Rebekah Morrison added 8 and sophomore Abbie Keating doing her part with 7 kills apiece. Sophomore setter Erin Greenwood led all players with 35 assists.

Doing the dirty work for PBU was Erika Catalano who came up with 25 digs as the defensive specialist. Misericordia's Kristin Hoffman pitched in on the defensive side for the Cougars with 22. She also came up with 22 assists.

PBU improves to 3-3 on the year and will look to improve on that record when they travel to Stevenson University in Maryland, where the team takes part in the Stevenson Univ. Tournament. They are guaranteed to play Ursinus and Farleigh Dickinson-Florham.
