LANGHORNE, PA - PBU's Women's Tennis team improves to 5-3 with another win, this time over Penn State-Harrisburg.
For the first time in a while, the Crimson Eagles were able to get off on the right foot by winning at least two of their doubles matches. Bumping the recent trend of early defeats, PBU's doubles pairings of Katelynn Wilson/Hannah Maddox and Dana Hartman/Meghan Whittington got the Crimson Eagles on track early and were able to rely on their singles play to finish of the Nittany Lions from Penn State-Harrisburg.
Wilson and Maddox defeated the Nittany Lions Kelly Jackson and Madeline Kuzo 8-2. In a closer match, PBU's Hartman and doubles specialist Meghan Whittington held off Jaclyn Gyger and Cameron Martinez 8-5. Gabrielle Legendre and Theodora Avaramidis knocked off PBU's Tara Munro and Rebecca Hardman in a closely contested 9-8 victory for the visitors.
Going into the singles competitions, the score stood at 2-1 in PBU's favor. All the Crimson Eagles needed to do was continue their strong singles play.
Despite a hiccup in Tara Munro's loss to PSU's Theodora Avaramidis, the Crimson Eagles prevailed on the singles side winning all the other match-ups.
The final score was 7-2 to Philadelphia Biblical University.
The Crimson Eagles are now 5-3 overall. They remain 2-2 in CSAC competition. They will have a chance to improve in the conference standings on Thursday, September 29, as they travel to Allentown, Pa. to take on Cedar Crest College. Cedar Crest took last season's meeting winning 6-2.
