PBU Can't Overcome Slow Start

LANGHORNE, PA - Another slow start costs PBU's Women's Tennis team as the fell to Penn St.-Abington 5-4.

The Crimson Eagles put in another solid display of singles play against the Nittany Lions of Penn State-Abington, winning 4 of 6 match-ups. It's was their doubles play that once against got the Crimson Eagles off to a slow start. The doubles competitions has proven to be the achilles heel of this squad.

The Nittany Lions won all three doubles match-ups to jump out to a 3-0 lead. Katelynn Wilson and Hannah Maddox, their first pairing together of the season, fell 8-6. Rebecca Hardman/'Elizabeth Stafford and Dana Hartman/Meghan Whittington both lost 8-4.

While there seem's to be signs of improvement on the doubles front, the Crimson Eagles will continually find themselves on the back foot unless they can start to get some early wins.

In the one-on-one match ups, PBU was able to close the gap but fell just short of overcoming their early losses.

Senior stand-out Katelynn Wilson once again took care of business in the #1 slot, defeating PSU's Stephanie Mockus 6-0, 6-0. Leigha Motta, now competing in the #3 spot was able to see off Lori Phillips in a couple of close sets 7-5, 6-3.

PBU's depth also shined through as Tara Munro and Dana Hartman came through in the #5 and #6 spots, Munro winning 7-6(7-5), 6-4. Dana Hartman had it a little bit easier winning 6-2, 6-2.

The Crimson Eagles are now 4-3 overall, 2-2 in CSAC. PBU will look to jump above .500 in conference play tomorrow as they travel to Rosemont College. Matches kick-off at 4pm.
