Patriots Snag One in Langhorne

Despite being down by just two at the break, the Crimson Eagles were unable to keep pace with visiting Valley Forge Christian College during the back end of play as the Patriots polished off a 64-53 triumph in Langhorne on Tuesday.

Playing inspired basketball throughout the opening 20 minutes of action, PBU fought off a grisly two for 14 effort from long range during the opening stanza by doing impressive work on the offensive glass.

However, the Crimson Eagles were ultimately suffocated by 23 turnovers for the game as the miscues cost the host group a 37-6 disadvantage in points off of cough-ups. The Patriots used PBU's propensity to give the ball away to help the visitors collect a 37-28 second half edge in points, leading to the 11 point triumph.

The host group stayed afloat throughout thanks to a remarkable effort from the charity stripe. The Crimson Eagles knocked down 19 of 22 looks from 15-feet out, a number that signals the group's highest mark of the season.

Valley Forge scored over half of their points beyond the 3-point line (33) for the game as the visitors drilled 11 triples throughout the 40 minutes of play, hitting nearly 40 percent of their looks from deep.

It marks the second time in three outings that the Patriots have managed to overcome their NCCAA East Region counterpart. PBU slips to 2-16 on the year while Valley improves to 14-10 overall.

Careth Herron spouted off for 21 points, 11 boards, and four helpers in the loss while Hannah McCardle finished with 12 points.

The Crimson Eagles will return to action on Thursday, taking on Keystone College on the road at 6:00 pm.
