LANGHORNE, PA
– Philadelphia Biblical University opened the 2011 women's basketball season with a 67-41 defeat to Skyline non-conference opponent Polytechnic University on Tuesday night.

The Crimson Eagles had three players finish with 8 points while Danielle Bradley-Wilson (Philadelphia, PA / Delaware Valley Charter) led the way with 10 points and 5 rebounds. Bradley-Wilson missed half of last season with an injury and 1st year Head Coach Ed Howell is happy to have her back.

Sophomore Ruth Nelson (Spofford, NH / Keene) finished the night with 8 points and 9 rebounds to lead the Crimson Eagles on the board. Freshman point-guard Elyse Ceide (Hamilton, NJ / Steinart) and junior Hannah McCardle (Lewisberry, PA / Red Land) also contributed 8 points to the cause.

Ball-handler Sara Poole (Edison, NJ / Timothy Christian) pulled the strings for the Crimson Eagles attack. Poole ended up with 3 assists.

Polytechnic’s duo of Margaux Pickell and Shelby Bruns led all scorers with 24 and 22 points respectively.

The Crimson Eagles hung with the Fighting Blue Jays down in the paint, grabbing 40 rebounds to Polytechnics 39, but the difference was shooting accuracy. PBU only shot 32% from the field, and missed all 6 3-point attempts, while Polytechnic shot 40% from the field, including 29% from beyond the arch.

PBU did shoot 71% from the free-throw line but only had 7 opportunities from there.

PBU starts off the 2011-12 season 0-1. Polytechnic moves to 1-0.

PBU will now take a road trip down to Georgia where the Crimson Eagles will take on non-conference Toccoa Falls and Piedmont Baptist College.
