LANGHORNE, PA - Philadelphia Biblical University's Women's Tennis team held off Notre Dame of Maryland for a 5-4 Colonial States Athletic Conference match.
The win puts PBU at 8-6 overall and 4-5 in CSAC play at the finish of the 2011 regular season.
The Gators of Notre Dame (MD) took a convincing lead by winning the first two doubles matches, both by the score of 8-5. The doubles results were as follow:
Stafford/Wilson (PBU) vs. K. Bye/A. Fansler (ND) ND wins 8-5
Hartman/Whittington (PBU) vs. A. Schmedding/M. Kemp (ND) ND wins 8-5
The Crimson Eagles won the 3rd doubles by default.
On the singles side, Notre Dame continued their strong start by taking the 1st and 2nd singles matches. PBU would rally though, winning the remaining matches for the come-from-behind victory.
Notre Dame was forced to forfeit the 6th singles spot because of lack of players.
