Women's Tennis Powers Past Polytechnic

BROOKLYN, NY - PBU's Women's Tennis team were without their #1 player in Katelynn Wilson and still came out on top, in an 8-1 win over Polytechnic University.

The Crimson Eagles women's tennis team got back to winning after a tough 4-5 defeat to conference opponent Neumann this past Saturday, with the win at Polytechnic on Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference match.

PBU started the afternoon brightly by taking three-of-three in doubles. Leigha Motta and Lizz Stafford won the first doubles 8-4. Rebecca Hardman and Hannah Maddox won with a bit more ease, 8-1, at the second doubles spot. Dana Hartman and Meghan Whittington rounded out the sweep of the doubles with another 8-1 win.

The Crimson Eagles then took five-of-six in singles action. Motta, who was standing in for the usual #1 Wilson, dropped the first singles 6-2, 7-5, but Hardman took the second singles, 6-1, 6-1 to get things rolling. Maddox (7-5, 6-1) and Stafford (6-1, 6-0) won the third and fourth singles, respectively. Dana Hartman rounded out the Knights scoring with a 6-1, 6-0 win at the sixth singles spot.

PBU (7-6, 3-5 CSAC) will finish up their regular season at home this Saturday in a CSAC match-up with Cedar Crest College.
