Volleyball Team Returns to Winning Form

Box Score

LANGHORNE, PA - Before this season's current drought, it had been five full years since the women's volleyball team had dropped five straight matches.

Thankfully, the streak is over.

The Crimson Eagles returned to old form Wednesday evening, dispatching the College of Notre Dame by a final count of 3-1.

Despite a somewhat slow start, PBU picked up steam down the stretch of their contest, eventually overcoming their CSAC counterpart by scores of 20-25, 25-22, 25-22, 25-16.

The Gators, who came into the game with a highly impressive 7-1 record, were stunted by 30 attack errors throughout the four frames, a number that led to a mediocre .150 hitting clip as a unit.

Despite getting out-manned in the kill department - losing the overall battle 53-39 - PBU used efficiency to help overcome the visiting Gators as made evident by their .257 hitting percentage with only 11 attack errors.

Carly Plank finished with 11 kills nine digs during the win and Rachel Calderon posted 10 and 16, respectively. Rebekah Morrison added 20 assists and 15 digs and Erika Catalano and Ashleigh Colomina combined for 22 stops defensively.

The win moves PBU to 6-8 overall on the season while the College of Notre Dame falls to 7-2.

The Crimson Eagles are scheduled to return to the court this Saturday, hosting Messiah College and the University of Scranton. The opening contest is slated for 11:00 am.
