Crimson Eagles Tripped Up 5-4

ABINGTON, PA - After winning their first conference game of the year on Saturday, the Crimson Eagles stumbled during their most recent outing, falling to Penn State Abington 5-4 Tuesday afternoon.

PBU dug themselves in an early hole against the Nittany Lions, winning just one of three match-ups during doubles-action to kick off the match. Hannah Maddox and LIz Stafford were the only triumphant combo of the afternoon for the Crimson Eagles during doubles play, downing their counterpart in extra sessions, 9-7.

Needing to win four out of six singles contests to pull off the comeback, the visitors came up a game just short, prevailing in three solo matches during the back end of play.

Katelynn Wilson made it seven straight wins to start the year at the number one singles position, eventually overpowering her opponent by scores of 7-5, 6-1. Liz Stafford picked up her third triumph of the season in the second slot, coming out on top by a 6-3, 6-0 margin. Amanda Treacy was PBU's only other win on the afternoon, winning 6-3, 6-3 in the fifth position.

The Crimson Eagles fall to 3-4 with the loss.

The group will jump back into conference action on Thursday when the team hosts Marywood University at 4:00 pm.
