LA PLUME, PA - After dropping three straight contests, the women's tennis team rallied together during their match with Keystone College Saturday afternoon, trumping the Giants by an 8-1 margin.
The win not only halts the team's three game skid but it also signals PBU's second conference win ever within the Colonial States Athletic Conference, this being their third year in the league.
The Crimson Eagles rolled through singles competition as all six visiting players overwhelmed their counterpart, including three perfect 6-0, 6-0 sweeps from Hannah Maddox, Rebecca Hardman, and Dana Hartman.
Katelyn Wilson, who has yet to lose this year in the number one singles spot, snuck past Keystone's top ace, Shiloh Richner, in one of her closest battles of the season, escaping 6-4, 6-3. Liz Stafford churned out a 6-4, 6-1 victory, and Tara Munro proved solid in the fifth spot, triumphing 6-4, 6-3.
Hardman and Brealyn Stillman teamed to overcome their doubles foe 8-1 and Hartman Munro polished off their counterpart by an 8-4 margin. The team's only slip up on the afternoon came in the form of an 8-4 loss in the top doubles spot.
The win moves PBU to 3-3 on the year, a number that already equates their win total from a year ago.
The squad will look to take Saturday's momentum into their Tuesday match with Penn State Abington. The game against the Nittany Lions marks PBU's last non-conference tilt of the year and will be held at 3:30 pm in Abington, PA.
