LANGHORNE, PA - If Marywood University needed any extra incentive heading into Tuesday night's game with the women's volleyball team, they probably could have reminisced back to last year - PBU ended the Pacers' season a year ago during the opening round of the conference playoffs.
On Tuesday, Marywood got the revenge they were looking for, forcing the Crimson Eagles into submission during a 3-0 waxing that saw the visitors come out on top by scores of 25-18, 25-19, 25-18.
Despite keeping things relative close throughout, the host group failed to get over the hurdle and instead were shackled by a .057 hitting percentage as a team over the course of the evening.
Marywood, meanwhile, spread out the wealth on the offensive end, with five players charting three or more kills for the match. The squad also notched nine service service aces throughout the three frames to help claim their fourth sweep of the season.
The Crimson Eagles were paced by Carly Plank;s 11 kills and seven digs while Erika Catalano proved effective on the defensive side of the ball, amassing 14 stops defensively. Rachel Calderon added five kills and 10 digs in the losing effort.
PBU falls to 5-5 on the season while Marywood moves to 5-2.
The volleyball team will return to action this weekend when the group heads down to Virginia to participate in the Bridgewater Invitational. The Crimson Eagles will begin play on Friday by going up against Frostburg State University at 8:00 pm.
