LANGHORNE, PA - Sometimes, a little luck is necessary in the realm of athletics. Such was the story with the women's tennis team Thursday afternoon.
It took every ounce of effort - and a little help from the visitors - for the Crimson Eagles to sneak past Rosemont College, but when all was said and done, PBU walked away with a 5-4 triumph over their CSAC counterpart.
In what signals the team's third victory in four matches, the Crimson Eagles used two Rosemont forfeits to help push the host group past the Ravens. Due to a lack of numbers, Rosemont was forced to surrender their third doubles spot as well as the sixth singles position, beginning the match down 0-2 off the get-go.
The Crimson Eagles used the help to spurn the squad to their sixth victory of the season, a number that signals the program's greatest number of wins in nearly a decade.
Elizabeth Stafford and Katelynn Wilson teamed to win 8-8 (9-7) in the top doubles spot. Rebecca Hardman triumphed in the fourth singles slot 7-6 (7-3), 6-0, and Tara Munro came out on top 6-0, 6-0 in the fifth singles position.
The Crimson Eagles will wrap up their regular season this Saturday during a match with Cabrini College on the road at noon.
