LANGHORNE, PA - Following Saturday's bout with Immaculata University the women's tennis team tacked on another feat to their already impressive resume; the Crimson Eagles managed their first sweep of an opponent in three years.
PBU bullied past the visiting Mighty Macs during the homecoming weekend skirmish, using a true to effort to spark the group to their fifth win of the season. The 9-0 route also helped the Crimson Eagles generate their third conference win of the current campaign as the group sits primed to slug it out for their first ever postseason berth down the stretch.
After a severely disappointing 5-4 loss to Immaculata a year ago, the tennis team extracted a dab of revenge during their most recent outing by kicking off the day with three straight wins in doubles action.
Katelynn Wilson and Elizabeth Stafford teamed for an 8-2 triumph in the top slot while the combo of Brealyn Stillman and Amanda Treacy proved effective in the number two slot, winning 8-3. Dana Hartman and Meghan Whittington helped round out the perfect trifecta, slicing past their opposition, 8-6.
Wilson continued her dominant play in the number one singles spot, blowing past her counterpart 6-0, 6-0. Stafford managed a 6-3, 6-3 win in the second position and Hannah Maddox pumped out a 6-3, 6-2 triumph. Hardman completed a 6-0, 6-4 thumping as the number four singles player and Tracy collected a 6-0,6-2 win as the fifth seed. Tara Munro finished off the sixth slot with a 6-3, 6-1 victory.
The triumph moves the Crimson Eagles to .500 on the season as the group currently sits 5-5 overall with a 3-3 mark in league play. Immaculata slips to 3-8 on the year.
The tennis team will return to the court on Tuesday to go up against a formidable Gwynedd-Mercy squad on the road. Match time is 4:00 pm.
