Errors Prove Costly in 3-1 Loss

Box Score

GLENSIDE, PA
- You win some, you lose some. But when you hit like PBU did Tuesday night, it's particularly tough to come out on top.

The Crimson Eagles struggled mightily on the offensive end against Arcadia University, collecting a -.034 attacking clip against the Knights - their worst number in over a full year.

For a team that has made it a habit to out-slug the opposition night in and night out in recent memory, Tuesday's loss serves somewhat of a surprise for PBU as the group tallied more errors for the evening (41) than kills (36).

Not helping the cause was 11 serving aces from the host squad who surprisingly ended with less kills than PBU (36-29) but ultimately placed the ball more efficiently than their counterpart.

Following a 25-23 victory in the opening set, things quickly began to unravel for the Crimson Eagles. Arcadia would grind out a 26-24 triumph in game two, and - with confidence and momentum seemingly shifting with every point - would close out the final two games by counts of 25-21 and 25-16.

Senior setter Betsy Ranck pumped out 29 assists and 13 digs during the contest while Rachel Calderon added 14 kills and 17 digs. Carly Plank charted 10 kills and 15 digs while Kay Lynn Zeiset and Tanya Jendrek added 14 and 12 defensive stops, respectively.

The Crimson Eagles fall to 2-3 with the loss while Arcadia moves to 3-3.

The Crimson Eagles will look to get back in the winning column on Thursday when the group takes on Messiah College in Grantham, PA at 7:00 pm.
