IMMACULATA, PA - After going up 2-1 in doubles action, the women's tennis team couldn't fend off Immaculata in singles play, eventually falling 5-4 to the Mighty Macs Tuesday afternoon.
The Crimson Eagles secured wins in two out of three matches to kick things off, beginning with Katelynn Wilson and Brealyn Stillman's 8-5 triumph during doubles action. Hanna Maddox and Liz Stafford would tack on a second win for PBU, defeating the tandem of Amanda Dahlquist and Kaitlyn O'Donnell 8-4.
Turning their attention to singles play, the Crimson Eagles managed just two victories out of six tries, both coming at the top two spots. Wilson all-but dominated in the top spot for PBU, running away with a 6-2, 6-0 victory. Stafford blanked her opponent for the first time this season in the second spot, pulling out a commanding 6-0, 6-0 victory over Immaculata's Kelsey Piliero.
But it was all PBU could manage. The Mighty Macs cleaned up four wins in the third through sixth spots to eek out a 5-4 triumph.
The Crimson Eagles fall to 3-6 on the year while Tuesday's win marks Immaculata's first of the year. The Mighty Macs currently sit at 1-9.
The tennis team will return to the court on Wednesday when the group hosts Cabrini College at 3:30 pm.
