SCRANTON, PA - After collecting their first-ever CSAC win just two days ago, the tennis team couldn't put together the same winning effort in a shutout loss to Marywood University Saturday.
Things didn't kick off quite as hoped, with all three doubles tandems going down to open up the afternoon. And, unfortunately, things didn't turn out much better during singles play.
Katelyn Wilson, PBU's top singles player that came into the contest having won five of seven solo matches on the year, dropped a 7-5, 7-5 decision to Pacer Ashley Karli in what ended as the Crimson Eagles' only down-to-the wire match of the afternoon. Jocelyn Palmer mustered up a 6-3, 6-2 effort at the number three singles position but ultimately couldn't overcome Marywood's Beth Schneider.
PBU falls to 3-5 with a 1-4 mark in the CSAC while Marywood currently owns a similar overall record but boasts a 3-2 standing within conference action.
The tennis team will return to the court on Monday when the group travels to Immaculata University to go up against the Mighty Macs at 4:00 pm.
