Wilson Tallies Solo Victory in 8-1 Loss

Box Score

ALLENTOWN, PA
- The tennis team was unable to produce their first CSAC win of the year Tuesday afternoon as the group fell on the road to Cedar Crest College, 8-1.

Despite the loss, second-year player Katelyn Wilson went about business as usual, triumphing in her fourth straight singles match in what turned up as PBU's only win on the day. After dropping her opening contest of the season, Wilson has been automatic in singles action, producing wins in fairly convincing fashion over the course of the past two weeks.

Tuesday, however, would see Wilson forced to dig deeper than usual during a 2-6, 6-4, 6-1 triumph.

"I wasn't sure she had it in her after the first game," head coach Ken Wilson admitted following his daughter's conquest. "But I thought she really pulled it together and finished strong."

The Crimson Eagles weren't so fortunate elsewhere, however.

Despite several players taking their matches down to the wire, PBU was unable to generate a second victory on the afternoon.

"I keep saying that we're getting better each match, and we really are," Wilson said. "From top to bottom we've had tremendous improvement the last couple of weeks and overall I'm happy with today's performance because, even thought we didn't get the win, we're moving in the right direction.

Jocelyn Palmer kept things close in the third singles spot but eventually fell 5-7, 3-6. Brea Stillman also managed to stay within striking distance but was ultimately tripped up 2-6, 3-6.

In doubles action, Hannah Maddox and Wilson fell by an 8-3 count while Palmer and Liz Stafford were overcome 8-5.

The Crimson Eagles fall to 2-3 on the year while Cedar Crest moves to 4-2.

PBU will continue action within the conference on Thursday when the group heads to Immaculata University to square off with the Mighty Macs at 4:00 pm.
