GRAYSON, KY - The host and defending champs managed to thwart PBU's upset bid late Friday evening, suppressing the Crimson Eagles 47-30.
The 11 time NCCAA II National Champs clamped down on the defensive side of things, all-but shutting down PBU's offensive attack. The Crimson Eagles were held to a 22 percent shooting clip, marking their second worst performance on the year.
Despite a suffocating defensive that forced the Lady Knights into 30 percent shooting on the evening, the Crimson Eagles - who have struggled on the glass all season - were once again pounded on the boards by Kentcuky who had numerous put-back opportunities throughout the game.
Down 26-14 at the break, PBU would get as close as 12 down the stretch with five minutes remaining but would ultimately be unable to overcome the deficit.
Junior Dani Norton dropped in 17 of the team's 30 points on the evening while senior Summer Mullen chipped in with seven.
The Crimson Eagles will compete in the third place game tomorrow afternoon against Atlanta Christian College at 6:00 pm.
