ST. DAVIDS, PA - In one of those nights that starts off poorly and only gets worse, the Crimson Eagles fell in their second-to-last regular season game Wednesday night against host Eastern University.
A woeful shooting performance coupled with a devastating discrepancy on the glass ultimately led to PBU's demise against the Eagles, as Eastern played possessed in the rebounding department during their 71-40 victory.
The Eagles punished the Crimson Eagles with 23 offensive rebounds for the night, matching PBU's total number of rebounds for the game and, when all was said and done, the visitors found themselves out-rebounded 58-23 for the evening, a margin of minus-35.
As if the rebounding difference wasn't demoralizing enough, the Crimson Eagles were hampered by their worst shooting display in 18 games, hitting at a clip of just 26.7 percent from the field for the game and conneting on only three of 17 long-range tries.
Junior Dani Norton poured in 15 points for PBU and senior Summer Mullen added 10 points with four thefts on the defensive end.
PBU falls to 5-19 with the loss while Eastern improves to 7-15.
The basketball team will wrap up their regular season on Friday when the group hosts Centenary College at 7:00 pm.
