In Battle of the Boards, Baptist Savors Sweep

Box Score

LANGHORNE, PA - As many coaches and players over the years have come to find out, the battle under the basket once a shot goes up can change the tide of any game, any time.

Despite a strong effort from the Crimson Eagles that actually saw the host squad outscore Baptist Bible in the second half Saturday afternoon, the Defenders pulled out an 81-68 victory in Langhorne, thanks to 17 offensive rebounds for the game.

It marks the second time Baptist has upended PBU this season and also gives the Defenders their fourth straight win over their longtime rival.

The Crimson Eagles hit five of eight three piont tries and were an efficient 12 of 14 at the charity stripe for the game. But their inablity to prevent Baptist from crashing the offensive glass proved costly as 5'4 freshman guard Laura Grace Hodupp coralled seven offensive rounds in just 16 minutes of work to help spearhead the barrage on the glass for the Defenders.

PBU forced the visitors into 20 turnovers for the game, but the Crimson Eagles paultry mark of 24 giveaways undid an adequate performance on the defensive end.

Three players reached double figures for PBU, with Dani Norton's game highs of 21 points and 12 rebounds leading the way. Summer Mullen added 19 points, six rebounds and six steals, and junior forward Lindsey Fornwalt poured home a career high 16 points.

The Crimson Ealges will look to get back in the winning column on Monday when the group goes to Cedar Crest College to take on the Falcons at 7:00 pm.
