Shooting Struggles Surface in Road Loss

Box Score

FREDERICK, MD
- The Crimson Eagles dropped a 51-38 decision on the road Friday night against Hood College as the visitors connected on just 23.1 percent of their attempts from the floor for the game.

PBU ended the contest with just nine total field goals in the bank on the way to the group's second worst shooting clip of the season. The Crimson Eagles also surrendered 24 offensive boards for the night as the Blazers fired 27 more shots than their counterpart, a number good enough to help Hood to their second triumph of the year despite a similarly poor 28.8 percent shooting effort from the host squad.

Hood jumped all over PBU from the start, rolling to a 13-0 advantage before the visitors would finally crack the scoring column at the 13:48 mark. Another 7-0 spurt from the Blazers would help Hood to a  20-2 edge 13 minutes into the opening stanza before the Crimson Eagles would find any type of offensive rhythm.

Down 26-10 to begin the back end of play, the Crimson Eagles proved relentless and ended up slowly gnawing away at the gap. PBU managed to dwindle the margin to 41-34 with just over six minutes remaining, but a 10-4 run from Hood to close out the evening would leave the visitors short in their final contest of the semester.

Hood finished the evening with a decisive margin in points off turnovers, enjoying a 17-5 advantage in the category. The Blazers also collected a 14-4 edge in points in the paint for the game.

Senior Dani Norton poured home a game high 17 points for the Crimson Eagles while collecting eight boards on the night. Junior Careth Herron produced her second straight double-digit scoring affair, dumping in 12 points on five of nine shooting from the floor.

The Crimson Eagles will take nearly a month long hiatus from game action, returning to the court January 7th to take on highly touted Kentucky Christian University in round one of the Ohio Christian University Tournament. Game time is set for 5:30 pm.
