LANGHORNE, PA - The women's volleyball team rolled through Marywood University during a 3-0 sweep Tuesday evening in the opening round of the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) playoffs.
After getting stopped during a somewhat surprising 3-1 loss to the Pacers less than a month ago, the Crimson Eagles made sure the same scenario didn't unfold during the start of the CSAC postseason.
Instead, PBU blew past the Pacers by scores of 25-21, 25-21, 25-19 on the way to the group's 19th triumph of the year. The Crimson Eagles limited the Pacers to a pedestrian .105 hitting percentage while collecting 14 block assists on the night - a number that marks PBU's second best effort of the season.
Betsy Ranck tallied 30 assists in the win while Carly Plank added a game high mark of 13 kills and eight digs while hitting at a clip of .400. Rachel Calderon chipped in with eight kills and eight stops defensively.
The win puts the Crimson Eagles in the CSAC semi-finals for the second straight season, where they'll square off with last year's champ and preseason favorite, Neumann University. The second-seeded Knights received a bye in the opening round and will host PBU this Thursday at 7:00 pm.
