ST. DAVID'S, PA - With their CSAC regular season schedule officially complete, the women's volleyball
team turned their attention to non-conference action Saturday afternoon.
The tune-up before postseason play was a rough one for the Crimson Eagles as the group fell in consecutive matches in shutout fashion.
Eastern University, the 23rd ranked team in the nation, handed PBU their most lopsided defeat of the season during a 25-8, 25-16, 25-13 blitzing.
Betsy Ranck tallied 15 assists and Carly Plank and Rachel Calderon chipped in with six kills. Kay Lynn Zeiset paced the Crimson Eagles on the defensive end with nine digs.
Looking to rebound in their second match of the afternoon, PBU was blanked in their second straight 3-0 outing, this time at that hands of Widener University. Game scores were 25-22, 25-20, 25-17.
Ranck posted 28 helpers and Plank led the Crimson Eagles with 12 kills. Lindsay Dager added nine spikes while Zeiset and Calderon chipped in 16 and 15 digs, respectively.
PBU falls to 16-13 with the pair of losses.
The group will get back into action next Wednesday when the squad travels to Madison, NJ to go up against Manhattanville College and Fairleigh Dickinson in a tri-match. Play is slated to begin at 5:00 pm.
