Philly U Strikes Back; PBU Upends Alvernia

After defeating Philadelphia Univ. for the first time in nine years just two weeks ago, the Crimson Eagles couldn't make it a season sweep on Saturday.

LANGHORNE, PA - Two weeks ago Philadelphia Biblical University upset local rival Philadelphia University on their home floor.

On Saturday, the roles were reversed.

The Rams delt the Crimson Eagles a 3-1 defeat in the Mason Activity Center Saturday afternoon, sneaking by the host squad by scores of 25-16, 25-15, 23-25, and 25-14.

After dropping a narrow 3-2 loss to PBU two Saturday's ago, Philly University made sure to take care of business on Saturday, limiting the Crimson Eagles to their fifth lowest hitting percentage of the season (.069) in the Rams' fifth victory of the year. 

The Crimson Eagles rebounded against their second opponent on the day - newly renamed Alvernia University - sweeping through the Crusaders in three straight sets by 25-17, 25-17, and 25-12.

The Crimson Eagles limited the visitors to just 11 kills throughout the three sets and this time forced Alvernia into a -.05 hitting percentage for the afternoon.

Senior Becky Williams finished the two games with a combined 25 kills, 20 digs, and 3 aces. Sophomore Kay Lynn Zeiset added 29 digs, while senior Katy Kutzner chipped in  with 19 digs on the afternoon.

The Crimson Eagles will get back to CSAC action next Thursday by taking on Cedar Crest College in Allentown at 7:00 pm.
