The Crimson Eagles upended Immaculata University 3-1 Tuesday, giving the volleyball team their first win of the season in CSAC play.

IMMACULATA, PA New conference, same old result.

Following their historic romp through the NEAC a year ago, the women’s volleyball team had their first conference test of the year within CSAC play Tuesday night. They passed with flying colors.

The Crimson Eagles secured their first ever win within CSAC competition by overcoming Immaculata University in four sets, their only slipup coming in the form of a 25-22 loss in the second rally.

The second game notwithstanding, the most recent addition to the CSAC looked strong against the Mighty Macs, securing wins by scores of 25-20, 25-12, and 25-13 in sets one, three, and four, respectively.

The win gives PBU a short two game win streak, but – more importantly – helps place the Crimson Eagles amongst the top CSAC teams as the squad currently sits squarely in first place in the early season race.

PBU was led by senior Becky Williams who tallied game highs in both kills and digs, finishing the evening with 17 each to go with two service aces. Rebekah Morrison and Carly Plank also finished with double digit kills, going for 14 and 10, respectively. Katy Kutzner chipped in 12 digs while Tanya Jendrek ended the evening with 10.

The win gives PBU an 8-5 overall record while the Mighty Macs fall to 1-4.

The volleyball team will continue play on the road this Thursday at Philadelphia University (2-4), squaring off with the Division II Rams at 7:00 pm.
