ANNVILLE, PA - For the second consecutive weekend, the Crimson Eagles took part in a multiple-team tournament. And for the second consecutive weekend, the Crimson Eagles had to settle for second.
Following a night that was drama-stricken featuring two momentous comebacks, PBU's recent magic on the court failed to show up early Saturday morning as the squad fell to host Lebanon Valley in three sets, 25-20, 25-17, 25-12.
Junior setter Betsy Ranck posted 13 assists, nine digs, two kills, and one ace in the loss, while senior outside hitter Becky Williams tallied eight kills, seven digs, and three assists. Sophomore outside hitter Carly Plank chipped in with seven kills.
In their second match of the day and final contest of the tournament, the Crimson Eagles handily dismantled Ursinus College by scores of 25-18, 25-17, 25-12.
Plank managed 11 kills on a very impressive .312 hitting percentage, and Williams came up with a team high 15 digs in the match. Junior libero Kay Lynn Zieset recorded an incredible number of nine aces in the match to go with 10 digs overall.
The 1-1 split on the day was good enough to place PBU second overall in the Flying Dutchman Tournament. Becky Williams was named to the All-Tournament team for the second consecutive weekend. PBU's overall record now currently stands at 7-5 overall.
Next up for the volleyball team is a road meeting with Immaculata University in a match-up that will mark PBU's first contest in CSAC competition. Game time against the Mighty Macs is 7:00 pm.
