GLENSIDE, PA – PBU’s search for their first win of the season failed to pan out as Arcadia University ran away with a 9-0 victory in non-conference action Thursday afternoon.
Arcadia began the contest with a 3-0 sweep in doubles play, winning by scores of 8-4, 8-1, and 8-4, respectively.
With a major hole to climb out of, a come from behind upset victory proved not to be in the books for the visiting squad as the Knights rounded out the afternoon with a 6-0 clean sweep in singles action to help preserve an undefeated 4-0 start to their season.
Although no Crimson Eagle ended up registering a win in singles play, junior Jocelyn Palmer kept things competitive at the number two position against the Knights’ Sarah Lapp, extending both of their games to similar scores of 6-4. Playing in the top singles spot, PBU rookie Katelynn Wilson kept things relatively close as well, eventually succumbing 6-1, 7-5 to Arcadia junior Cory Mazen.
The Crimson Eagles slip to 0-2 with the loss.
The tennis team will return to Langhorne this weekend to compete in their first ever CSAC match. PBU will take on Cedar Crest College this Saturday at 1:00 pm.
