OMAHA, PA - Although it was by no means the start they were looking for, the good news is that there are two days in the opening round of the NCCAA II National Tournament, not one.
Facing two teams they were the predicted to defeat, fourth-seeded PBU found themselves on the dreaded side of back-to-back upsets by days end.
The Crimson Eagles were upset in their opening match of the NCCAA II National Tournament by eighth-seeded Providence College by scores of 25-22, 25-18, 25-20. PBU followed up with their second consecutive loss later in the afternoon, falling to fifth-seeded Grace University. PBU was upended by scores of 25-15, 25-21, 20-25, and 25-19.
In dire need of consecutive wins, the Crimson Eagles will need to pull out victories against ninth-seeded Ozark Christian College and top-ranked Clearwater Christian College tomorrow in order to have a chance to advance out of pool play. PBU was swept by Clearwater earlier in the year, 3-0.
