Berks deals shutout

Crimson Eagles come up empty against Nittany Lions

Langhorne, PA - The women's tennis team suffered a 9-0 defeat at the hands of Penn State Berks late Saturday afternoon.

 

In their second contest of the day on homecoming weekend, the Crimson Eagles were swept in both singles and doubles competition to drop their season record to 1-8. PBU dropped an 8-1 decision to Keystone College earlier in the morning.

 

Playing in the number one singles spot, sophomore Alicia Kline kept her match the closest falling to freshman Nicole Cresswell 7-5, 6-3. Senior Barbara Furhman also managed to stay within striking distance of her opponent but ultimately dropped a 5-4 decision to freshman Steph Williams.

 

Penn State Berks is currently second in the NEAC standings with a 4-1 conference record to go along with an 8-2 overall record.

 

The Crimson Eagles will return to action at home on Tuesday when they face Arcadia University at 3:30 pm.
