LANGHORNE, PA - In PBU's final contest of the year, the Crimson Eagles fell to Eastern University 9-0.
The women's tennis team began doubles play by dropping all three decisions to Eastern to give PBU an early 3-0 deficit. Unfortunately the Crimson Eagles didn't fair much better in singles competition as all six PBU competitors were defeated at the hands of their opponents.
Nevertheless, Laura Wronski made sure to put up a fight in her final contest as a Crimson Eagle. The senior forced her singles match to go the entire length of three games but eventually succumbed to Eastern sophomore Analissa Iverson 7-6, (7-5), 7-5.
Unfortunately Tuesday's match marks the final contest of their career for several seniors. Melissa Chiasson, Laura Wronski, and Barb Fuhrman are all in their last year at PBU and will move on as next year's tennis team tries to build on some of the successes and improvements they experienced throughout this season.
The loss against Eastern gives PBU a final standing record of 1-13, with their lone win of the season coming against Polytechnic University back in late September. Eastern improves to 3-12 with the win.
Despite ending the season with a losing record, head coach Ken Wilson remained enthusiastic about his team's progress throughout the year. Another year of experience for PBU's young core mixed with hard work will hopefully bode well for the Crimson Eagles in preparation for next season.
