Alvernia blanks Crimson Eagles

Crimson Eagles fail to record single win in 9-0 loss

READING, PA - The women's tennis team dropped their 12th contest of the season Saturday afternoon in which the Crimson Eagles were swept by Alvernia College, 9-0.

In a preview of what will be a conference match-up next year when PBU joins the PAC, the Crimson Eagles struggled early against the Crusaders with the three doubles teams losing by a combined margin of 24-5. Sophomore Jocelyn Palmer teamed with senior Laura Wronksi to generate the closet match in doubles competition, falling 8-3 to an experienced Crusdaer tandem of Samantha Bader and Heather Leader.

In singles competition, all six Crimson Eagle competitors were defeated in two matches by their counterparts. In fact, Saturday's loss marks the greatest margin of defeat for the Crimson Eagles so far this year.

With the defeat PBU falls 1-12 on the year, while Alvernia improves to 6-8.

The Crimson Eagles will return to action Tuesday afternoon when they take on Eastern University at 3:30 pm. The meeting with Eastern not only marks the PBU's last home match of the year, but also the team's final contest of the 2007 season.
