Harrisburg cruises past PBU in last NEAC match of year

PBU secures two wins but falls short

HARRISBURG, PA - Despite putting up a hefty fight, the women's tennis team eventually lost their first NEAC match of the day Saturday morning. The Crimson Eagles fell by a score of 7-2 to conference rival Penn State Harrisburg to drop their overall record to 1-10 for the season.

Although the team lost overall, two Crimson Eagle players managed to pick up wins during the day. Senior Laura Wronski had a successful outing coming out victorious in both her doubles and singles match. She was the sole winner during singles competition at the five spot, disposing of Lion freshman Becky Fus in two quick sets 6-4, 6-3. It marks Wronski's second singles win of the season, but unfortunately her efforts proved to be all PBU could muster during singles play with all five other Crimson Eagles falling after two games.

In doubles action, the experienced combination of senior Barb Fuhrman paired with Wronksi proved to be too much for Penn State Harrisburg as the duo downed freshman Becky Fus and sophomore Shaquanna Shields to generate PBU's only victory during doubles play. The score was 8-2.

The win gives Penn State Harrisburg their first of the season, as their overall record now stands at 1-8.

The Crimson Eagles will take a short break and return to action later this afternoon when the team takes on Keuka College in their second match of the day at noon.
