Highlanders Land Three On Honorable Mention

Aston, PA - Three Highlanders from the women's soccer team have made the CSAC Honorable Mention Team for 2014: Alicia Curry, Hannah Morrison, and Courtney Novak. The Colonial States Athletic Conference has released its 2014 end of the season women's soccer awards, including Player, Rookie and Coach of the Year, All-CSAC and the CSAC All-Sportsmanship Team. The awards were determined by a vote of the conference's 12 head coaches.

Cabrini College junior midfielder Dana Peterson (Woodbridge, N.J./Bishop Ahr) was voted the 2014 CSAC Player of the Year. A starter in all 18 games, Peterson paired nine goals with one assist for 19 points on the season. A two-time CSAC Player of the Week, she registered four game-winning goals, all against CSAC foes (Rosemont College, Centenary College, Gwynedd Mercy University and Keystone College). The Cavaliers went undefeated in CSAC contests and earned the top seed and first-round bye in this week's CSAC playoffs.

Gwynedd Mercy University freshman midfielder Meghan Petroski (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) was chosen as the 2014 CSAC Rookie of the Year. A starter in all 18 games for the Griffins, Petroski netted eight goals to go along with a team-high eight assists for 24 points, good for second-best on the team and fourth in the CSAC. She was credited with the game-winner in a 5-0 win over Cairn University and scored at least one point in eight of Gwynedd Mercy's 11 conference matchups. Petroski and the Griffins earned the No. 3 seed in this week's CSAC tournament with a record of 11-6-1 (8-2-1 CSAC).

Cabrini College head coach Ken Prothero was selected by his peers as the 2014 CSAC Women's Soccer Coach of the Year. Prothero, now in his 13th season at the helm of the Cavaliers, earns his second CSAC Coach of the Year accolade and first since 2010. Cabrini went undefeated in its 11-match CSAC slate this season and outscored conference opponents 39-5 along the way with six shutouts. The Cavaliers (12-6, 11-0 CSAC) will face the lowest seeded team to come out of the first round contests Monday in Wednesday's semifinal matchup. Prothero has guided Cabrini to three straight CSAC titles and five in his tenure with the program.
