Doughty Earns Second-Straight All-CSAC Honor

CSAC Press Release

Aston, PA – On Monday afternoon the Colonial States Athletics Conference (CSAC) released their All-Conference teams for the 2016-17 basketball seasons. Cairn senior, Gerroid Doughty II was among the players honored, earning second team accolades for the second-consecutive season.

The All-CSAC nod comes on the heels of what could be the most thrilling game in Cairn men's basketball history. Doughty's senior campaign was capped off this past weekend with a four overtime thriller, that ended in a 111-108 Cairn victory over Keystone. Needing 15 points in his last career game to score his 1,000th career point, Doughty dropped 30 and tied a career-high in the game. Doughty picked up 15 of his points across the four overtime periods and helped lead Cairn to victory in one memorable game.

While Saturday's game was a historic one for Doughty, it was not just one game that vaulted the senior to All-Conference status. During his senior campaign, Doughty averaged 16.0 points per game and snagged 5.5 rebounds per contest.

His consistent play spanned the entire season, Doughty scored double-digits points in all but three games this season and went for 20-plus points on seven occasions including a season-high 30 points on Saturday.

Doughty did more than just score and grab rebounds for the Highlanders, the senior also averaged 2.7 assists per game while swiping 1.2 steals per contest.

As mentioned, Doughty's Second-Team honor is his second in as many seasons with the Highlanders. He was honored with a Second Team nod last year as well.

Along with Doughty's All-CSAC selection, fellow senior JD Zamroz was named to the CSAC Sportsmanship Team for this past season. On the women's side, senior EJ Hartzler was named to the women's CSAC Sportsmanship Team as well.

The Highlanders completed their season over the weekend with the victory over Keystone to finish the 2016-17 season with a 7-18 record and a 5-13 mark in the CSAC. Cairn finished the season in the seventh spot, just outside the CSAC playoff picture.
